Have fun and keep a healthy balance
Every game here is free and runs on virtual credits, yet any game can eat up more of your day than you planned. The ideas below are there to help you stay in control.

Entertainment, not gambling
Verificare is a collection of free social games made for UK adults aged 18 and over. It is there to entertain you, not to gamble with. At no stage does real money come into it: there is nothing to pay in, nothing to cash out and no prizes on offer. The credits are virtual and have no cash value. Doing well in a free game tells you nothing about how you would get on gambling for real, so please do not use these games as a rehearsal for it.
Habits that keep play enjoyable
- Decide on a time limit first. Choose how long you want to play before you start, and keep to it. The timer in the footer shows how long you have been on the site, and a friendly reminder appears every 30 minutes. Both work for everyone on the site, whether or not you have an account.
- Take regular pauses. Stand up, stretch, drink some water and give your eyes a rest by looking at something far away.
- Play for the enjoyment. If you notice that you turn to the games because of stress, loneliness or low spirits, talk to someone you trust.
- Keep daily life first. Sleep, work, study, family and friends deserve more of your attention than any game.
- Never play to recover something. If you feel the urge to “win back” a loss, whether in a free game or anywhere else, treat that as your signal to stop.
- Use what your device offers. Phones, tablets and computers have built-in screen-time controls you can turn on.
Warning signs worth noticing
- You often end up playing for longer than planned, or find it hard to stop.
- You feel restless or irritable when you are unable to play.
- Gaming is taking a toll on your sleep, work, studies or relationships.
- The feelings that games give you are nudging you towards gambling with real money, or towards spending cash you cannot afford to lose.
- You hide from the people close to you how much time you spend playing.
Need a pause, or a clean break? Games open without an account, but if you have one, head to Support and choose “Take a break”, “Restrict my account” or “Delete my account”. The Support form is how we handle these requests. You can also delete your account yourself, straight away, from My account. And you are always free to close the tab; we will never chase you with offers.
