Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, where it is stored and how you can control it. This page covers only what the site actually does.

Last updated: 27 October 2026

1. Who is responsible

Whoever operates this website determines how personal data on theverificare.com is handled, which makes them the data controller. You can get in touch via the contact form, or make any privacy request by email [email protected] or our contact form.

2. Details we gather

Visiting and playing

Games open without an account or a sign-in. Once you have answered the 18+ age question, you can open and play any game, and the game folders are served from this same website. An account is optional and is described further below.

  • Your answer to the “I’m 18 or over” question is saved in your browser’s local storage only and is never sent to us.
  • The list of games you opened recently and a visit timer remain in your browser and nowhere else (see the Cookie Policy for more).
  • To keep the site secure and running, our hosting provider’s servers write routine technical logs, such as IP address, time, pages requested and browser type.

Creating an optional account with email

  • Your first and last name, email address and date of birth. The date of birth is used to check that you are 18 or over.
  • Your password, stored solely as a one-way scrambled “hash” and never as you typed it.
  • Technical account records: when you joined, your most recent sign-in, the number of failed sign-in attempts (five incorrect attempts pause sign-in for 15 minutes) and, while a password reset is pending, a hashed reset code and its expiry time.

Creating or using an account with Google

  • Google’s sign-in script is loaded by your browser only after you click “Continue with Google”, and you sign in inside a Google window. Google passes us your name, verified email address and Google account ID, and our server confirms the sign-in directly with Google.
  • We then ask for your date of birth and for you to confirm that you are 18 or over and in the UK. We hold the same details as described above, apart from a password, which is not involved.

Getting in touch

  • If you send the Contact or Support forms, we receive your name, email address, topic and message, and these are emailed to our support inbox using PHPMailer.
  • For each attempt, our server writes a short log line containing just the date, the form used, the topic and whether the email was sent. Your name, email address and message are not written to that log.
  • If you ask for a password reset, we email the address on the account a link that stays valid for one hour.

We never ask for or store card or bank details, because nothing on the site costs money.

3. Things we do not do

  • The site carries no adverts, and there are no advertising cookies or trackers.
  • We run no analytics tools and do not build profiles of you.
  • We do not sell your information or send marketing emails. The only emails you receive are replies to messages you sent and password resets you requested.
  • We load no third-party fonts; every font is served from our own domain.

4. Where data is kept and for how long

  • Account details sit on our server in a protected file for each account (we use no database), and that file cannot be opened from the web. They stay until you delete the account in My account or ask us to delete it.
  • Messages reach us by email and remain in our support inbox only as long as we need them to deal with your request and any follow-up.
  • Browser storage (age answer, recent games, notice choice) stays on your device until you clear it, while the visit timer disappears when you close the tab.
  • Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own routines.

6. Who else handles it

  • Email delivery provider. Brevo, an SMTP email service, relays form messages and reset emails to our inbox and to yours.
  • Google, only if you choose Google sign-in, in which case Google’s own privacy policy applies.
  • Game developers. Their games are served from our own domain and run within our pages, and they may keep their own settings or credit balances in your browser. We do not pass your account details to them.
  • Hosting provider, which stores the site and its logs for us.
  • Public authorities, where the law requires it.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they should apply the safeguards that the law requires.

7. Your choices and rights

Under UK data protection law you may ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to its use, and receive a portable copy. If you have an account, you can delete it yourself whenever you like in My account, which removes it from our server. For any other request, contact us by email [email protected] or our contact form (select “Privacy question”).

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

8. Adults only

The site is intended solely for people aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you think someone under 18 holds an account, let us know and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this page

Should the way the site handles your information change, we will revise this page, and the date at the top shows when it was last updated.
